Canine Care Certified™: A Higher Standard of Puppy Care
At Furry Babies, where a puppy comes from matters.
We believe every puppy deserves a strong, healthy start, and that begins long before they ever meet their new family. That’s why we partner only with breeders who meet strict federal and state licensing requirements and operate in full compliance with animal welfare laws. But we don’t stop at minimum standards.
Many of the breeders we work with are Canine Care Certified™ (CCC) through Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, or they are actively working toward certification.
The Canine Care Certified program is one of the most comprehensive, science-based welfare certifications for dog breeders in the United States. Developed by veterinary experts, this voluntary program goes well beyond regulatory basics. It focuses on the complete well-being of both puppies and adult dogs.

The Five Pillars of Care
The CCC program evaluates breeders across five specific pillars that reflect the full scope of canine well-being:
Physical Health
Ongoing veterinary involvement, preventative care planning, health monitoring, and attention to proper grooming and genetic screening support each dog’s overall condition from the start.
Behavioral Health
Intentional social exposure, enrichment, positive interaction, and low-stress handling help shape stable, well-adjusted puppies prepared for family life.
Environment
Safe, sanitary, and thoughtfully maintained living spaces allow dogs appropriate movement, comfort, and daily stimulation.
Breeding Life and Retirement
Responsible decisions around breeding age, appropriate recovery time between litters, and long-term planning for dogs once they retire from breeding.
Caretaker Expectations
Structured care protocols, continued learning, and consistent accountability ensure standards are upheld day after day.
Importantly, Canine Care Certified breeders undergo independent third-party audits. Certification is not self-declared. It is earned through documented review and inspection.

Why This Matters
Early care influences everything, shaping a puppy’s long-term health, confidence, and ability to thrive in a family home. When breeders commit to documented, science-guided practices, it creates a stronger foundation for a puppy’s future.
At Furry Babies, we advocate for higher standards because we see firsthand how preparation impacts a puppy’s future. Our commitment to responsible sourcing reflects our commitment to you, with transparency, education, and lifelong support as you welcome your new companion home.
When you choose Furry Babies, you’re choosing a team that values careful partnerships, accountable practices, and the well-being of every puppy from the very beginning.
